Maria Leonardo Cabrita (1989) is a PhD candidate in Multimedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon and a scholarship holder of the University of Lisbon. She graduated in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon in 2011 and finished her Master in Art and Multimedia from the same faculty in 2018.
From 2018 until 2020 she studied in Munich in the Photography class at the Academy of Fine Arts. She has participated in several exhibitions, of which highlights are: Private Lives 2012 - Centro Cultural deCascais; Sensitive Collective - Lisbon Photographic Archive, 2012; Cycleof Portuguese Photography in Brazil, Municipal Art Museum (MuMA) ofCuritiba, 2014; Prisma Bahnhof, integrated in the Cycle of PortugueseCinema in Berlin, 2015, Vulcano, at Akademie der Bildenden Künste inMunich, at Casa de Cultura de Setúbal, 2018, and at Lothringer13 Halle,Munich 2020; QR Code Lost and Found in several locations and by invitationof Terceira Pessoa, between 2021 and 2022; and Casais a Olhar Para oSol, at Pequena Galeria, in Lisbon, 2021.
In 2020 she was nominated for the Förderpreise Photography award in Munich in Germany. She won the Experimental Photography grants by the Bösenberg Stiftung foundation for Min Min Light project in 2019 and Specialization and Professional Valorization in Arts by the Gulbenkian foundation in 2017. Since 2015 her photographs are part of the collection of the Museu Municipal de Arte (MuMA), Curitiba, Brazil.
